Which CRM Software is the Best?

Let’s face it. We all want to purchase the best, right?

But what does “the best” mean? Let’s say you need a car – what a 20-year-old single person thinks is best probably isn’t the same as what a 43-year-old with a spouse and four kids thinks is best. Is a Maserati GranCabrio better than a Jeep Grand Cherokee? It’s certainly more expensive and it may have more bells and whistles, but it won’t hold your family of six. So, if the car just sits in the driveway how can it be the best for you?

But business purchases are different than consumer purchases, so there must be a best CRM, right? You’ve heard of Salesforce, seen their ads, and your friend uses it in their company and likes it so that’s the one to get. Right? Or, maybe Dynamics 365 is the best. You have a PC and use Office 365, so that’s the fit for you. Right?

Maybe. But first let me ask you a few questions.

  • What business are you in?
  • How many employees do you have?
  • How many of those employees will be using CRM?
  • Do you have a business process?
  • How do you fill your sales pipeline?
  • Do you use Marketing Automation?
  • What do you want to get from using CRM? What issues or pain points are you trying to address?
  • What other technologies are you utilizing that could be integrated with your CRM?

Now that you’ve considered these questions, the answer – as you’ve probably figured out –  is that there isn’t one best solution for everyone, since every company’s answers to the above are different. It doesn’t matter if the software is the most popular option in the marketplace; if it doesn’t satisfy what you need, it’s not the best for you.

Did you know there are more than 40 different CRM options? If you google “CRM” you’ll find articles listing The Top 25 (or 5, 10, 40…get the idea?), The Best in 2018, The Most Popular, etc.

As with most technology, and as with most products, the best solution is the one that meets your objective. This may not be the same solution you used at your last company, or the one your brother-in-law raves about.

Think about how many times you purchased something because someone else said it was right for them. The question is, was it right for you?

The CRM solution you need may not be the most expensive or the most well-known. It will be the solution that provides you with the right functionality to efficiently manage your sales pipeline and customer relationships so that you can more efficiently grow your business.
